Key points in 30 seconds

  1. Just tell us the insurance claim number. Korean medicine care is covered.
  2. You can come in even if you haven't received the number yet.
  3. Acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, pharmacopuncture, Chuna, and herbal medicine are covered, with standards for each item.
  4. Once a settlement is reached, any treatment after that is at your own expense.
  5. You can also go to another hospital at the same time — we'll coordinate so nothing overlaps.

What we often hear

  • "I didn't know insurance would cover it, so I just put up with it."
  • "I don't know what documents to prepare."
  • "What should I say to the other driver's insurance company?"

How do I get Korean medicine treatment covered by car insurance?

Report the accident to the insurance company and tell us the claim number you receive. Korean medicine care is among the items covered by Korean car insurance.

Many people hesitate because they don't know the procedure, so we've laid out just the steps. This isn't about which clinic is better; it's a guide to the procedure.

What are the steps?

Report the accident → get the claim number → give the claim number to where you'll be treated. Those are the three steps.

When an accident happens, you report it to the insurance company. If it's handled by the other car's insurance, the number comes from their insurer. Tell us that number, and we'll confirm with the insurance company.

You can come in even if you haven't received the number yet. It can still be processed if you tell us later. But if it's delayed, the confirmation process gets more complicated, so it's best to tell us as soon as you receive it.

What treatments can I receive?

Korean medicine care such as acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, pharmacopuncture, Chuna, and herbal medicine is covered. But each item has set standards, so not everything is unlimited.

What treatment to give and how much is decided based on your condition. If anything goes beyond what insurance covers, we'll tell you in advance. We'll make sure no costs come up without your knowing.

What happens after a settlement?

Once a settlement is reached, the insurance coverage for that accident ends too. Any treatment after that is at your own expense.

So if you still have discomfort, it's best to check your condition before deciding when to settle. We can't make that decision for you; we can only tell you what condition your body is in right now.

Can I go to another hospital at the same time?

Yes. Many people come to us while also going to an orthopedic clinic. However, there may be restrictions on receiving treatment at both on the same day.

If you tell us where you're going and what treatment you're receiving, we'll coordinate so nothing overlaps. There's no need to stop going to either one.

What are the limits of this guide?

Insurance standards change. What's written here is the general procedure, and whether an individual accident is covered is decided by the insurance company.

One more note. We don't get involved in things like fault ratios or settlement amounts, and it's not our place to advise on them. For those, please consult the insurance company or, if needed, get legal advice.

We'll guide you through the procedure even if you don't have a claim number. Many people put off treatment because they don't know what to say to the insurance company.

If you've been putting it off because the procedure is unfamiliar, just send us a message through the messenger at the bottom right of the page. We'll first let you know what you need to prepare.

Whether insurance covers it, and how much, depends on the insurance company's decision.

I mainly see problems that start with body alignment and posture. I'm in charge of care that requires looking at the balance of the whole body, such as children's growth, weight loss and recovery after car accidents. I have published meta-analyses on fatigue in international journals. That research experience helps when I see patients whose fatigue doesn't go away no matter how much they rest.
