Chronic indigestion
Even a small meal sits heavy,
and the pit of your stomach feels blocked.
A bloated stomach, a burning chest.
We help your gut move again so you can feel at ease.
The endoscopy says nothing is wrong,
but you still hurt and feel blocked up.
Even a small meal sits heavy,
and the pit of your stomach feels blocked.
Sour fluid comes up, your chest burns,
and it feels like something is stuck in your throat.
Your belly fills with gas and hurts,
and diarrhea and constipation keep alternating.
Your stomach feels stiff and sluggish,
and your whole body feels heavy and tired.
An endoscopy is good for checking inflammation or ulcers inside the stomach, but it can't tell you how well your stomach moves or whether it's working properly.
Most cases of stress-related gastritis and functional dyspepsia come from reduced stomach motility: food builds up, and the waste it produces (damjeok) makes the outer wall of the stomach stiff and hard.
At 당당한의원 대구수성점, we use abdominal diagnosis to find hardened damjeok around the pit of the stomach and the navel by hand, and pulse diagnosis to assess how much your stomach's energy has weakened.
The root of treatment is loosening the stiff stomach and warming a cold belly, so your stomach can move strongly on its own again.
We help digestion by bringing back the movement rhythm of a tired, stalled stomach.
We work to break down and clear the hardened waste built up on the outer wall of the stomach.
We calm inflammation in the esophagus and stomach and help the damaged lining recover.
We settle the stomach's nerves, made sensitive by stress, to help prevent relapse.
Even with the same indigestion, treatment differs depending on the cause.

Treatment that works on the root of how your stomach functions.
I see patients whose tests came back normal but who still don't feel right. I check the state of the body through abdominal diagnosis (pressing on the belly), tongue diagnosis and pulse diagnosis, and I record what I find as numbers so we can compare at the next visit.
With pain, I don't look only at the spot that hurts. I look for the cause in the way your feet meet the ground, the balance of your jaw and the way you walk. When I explain a treatment plan, I also tell you which study, in which journal, it's based on. I believe evidence only counts as evidence if you can check it yourself.
We press on the belly directly to find where damjeok is
and how hard it has become.
We look for the root cause of your indigestion,
such as a weak stomach, damjeok or stress.
With herbal medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion,
we focus on restoring stomach function.
We help you change eating habits that strain the stomach
to help prevent relapse.
A. An endoscopy shows inflammation or ulcers in the lining, but it can't see how the stomach moves or damjeok. A decline in function may be the cause.
A. When stomach function recovers and eating habits improve, the chance of it coming back drops considerably. Steady care after treatment is still important.
A. It's best to avoid them during treatment, but once your stomach function recovers, having them now and then is fine.
