Waking before dawn
Every night, without fail, you wake up between 3 and 4 a.m.,
and it takes a long time to fall back asleep.
Your tests are normal, but you still don't feel right?
Your belly, tongue and pulse may hold the answer.
Some conditions of the body don't show up on scans or blood tests. We check by hand, and prescribe herbal medicine based on what we find.
If you've been to several clinics and no one has found the cause,
there may be a place no one has looked yet.
Every night, without fail, you wake up between 3 and 4 a.m.,
and it takes a long time to fall back asleep.
Even with medication, you don't feel like you slept,
and you worry about becoming dependent.
You've taken acid reducers for a long time,
but the lump in your throat and the cough are still there.
Even after a full night's sleep you don't feel refreshed,
and your energy doesn't come back.
An endoscopy shows inflammation and ulcers in the stomach lining. But it doesn't show how well your stomach and intestines are moving, or whether your body is properly resting at night.
When severe stress and fatigue go on, the balance of the autonomic nervous system breaks down. Even at night, the sympathetic ("fight or flight") system doesn't settle, and your body stays switched on. Not being able to sleep isn't a matter of willpower. It means the switch that lets you rest isn't working properly.
At 당당한의원 대구수성점, we check what state your body is in now through abdominal diagnosis (pressing on the belly), tongue diagnosis (looking at the tongue) and pulse diagnosis (feeling the pulse). These are ways of reading, by hand and by eye, what doesn't appear on a test report.
We bring down heat gathered in the head and chest so your body can settle at night.
We soften a tense belly and help circulation keep flowing.
We replenish energy and body fluids in a body worn out for a long time, building the strength to recover.
We help your body find its rhythm again: awake during the day, resting at night.
The prescription depends on what has broken down.
Heart-gallbladder timidity — the strength that steadies the mind has weakened
A prescription that strengthens the heart and spleen
It replenishes the energy of the heart and spleen to help sleep become deeper.
Liver qi stagnation — energy knotted up and not releasing
A prescription that releases knotted energy
It opens up blocked circulation to lower tension and help the mind settle.
Damjeok — digestive function has dropped and waste has built up
A prescription that gets the digestive system moving
It loosens a tense belly and helps the stomach and intestines move on their own, restoring digestion.
We prescribe based on what we find during the examination.
First we hear when and how your discomfort started,
and what you've already tried.
We press on the belly, look at the tongue and feel the pulse
to check the current state of your body.
We explain what we found
and decide together where to start.
We record measures like abdominal firmness as numbers,
compare them at the next visit, and adjust the prescription.
A. Yes. At first you take both, and once your sleep becomes more stable, we talk together about gradually reducing the dose. Let us know what medications you take, and we'll prescribe accordingly.
A. Scans and blood tests look for tissue damage or abnormal numbers. Problems with function, such as whether your body is working properly or resting at night, may not be picked up. We check for those through abdominal and pulse diagnosis.
A. It depends on the prescription. Unless it's a prescription meant to help you gain weight, it won't. If you're concerned, just let us know at your visit.
A. It depends on your symptoms and condition. Because we adjust as we watch your progress, we don't fix a period from the start. We'll tell you what progress to expect at your visit.
